Forgive me, but I would NOT consult that GoMoG article for stock 1975 Plus 8s. It is a link to the great Gemmer steering box, which was used primarily for MUCH later Plus 4s and 4/4s and only only used for Plus 8s for a very short period long after 1975. I am far away from my reference library at the moment, but I think Dix has a Bishop Cam Gears.. It has very vintage steering unless a previous owner did the very common change to Gemmer. However the Cam Gear box is very serviceable, merely requiring much effort to steer. We would need a picture to determine which box.

The primary symptom of inadequately adjusted Gemmer and/or Cam Gear steering is that they tend to wander in any direction, I imagine in any direction the looseness was last set. This can be fix by the box finally receiving the needed adjustment, assuming there is adjustment play left.

A Cam Gears supplier sells a cure for most of it. I am merely not sure whether it fits the Morgan version. https://www.vintagemgparts.com/bishop_cam.html I(N any event that is the starting point. You could also ask on The Morgan Experience, they have lots of hands-on pre-1977 owners, including that year Plus 8.
