1. Found the gauge sender and when disconnected the gauge goes 'full', so guess that rules out any gauge issues.

2. Got access to the take off, quarter run at a time to initially undo, but far better to go in vertically, filled with oil, did not take much perhaps 100ml, then ran with no sparks for 30 seconds - nothing registered on the gauge.

3. Next step with try and refill through the same take off then seal / pack to be able to add more pressure and get more oil into the pump and also see if the gauge moves at all.....perhaps would it be worth letting it sit for a while to drain into the pump more?

4. if that fails its the disassemble the pump and vaseline.....but that will be next month due to time / travel etc.

Jeremy, reading back over this thread I am a tad confused, which is no surprised given all that which has been typed to date... (-:

onfused in that you might expect to see a reading on the gauge while pressurising the gallery with the oil can through the gauge`s sender unit gallery...?

Also that despite having seemingly "filled" as opposed to pressurized the oil galleries using the the pumping action of the oilcan`s pump mechanism, there is no sign of oil in the head of the oil filter heads screw on mechanism or the gauze filter...

Perhaps best to have another go at it and one step at a time, Starting by cleaning off the residue around the gauze filter and filling up the oil filter prior to screwing it back in place,
Remove the oil pressure sender unit, then trying to force oil into the pressure side of the oil galleries with the oil can.

Accessing the galleries via the orifice left by removing the oil pressure sensor.....

Using that route as opposed to the pressure relief valve drilling, avoids the possibility of failure to feel pressure building by the oil leaking past the pressure side of the gallery and draining back to the sump via the other gallery within the PRV access point ...?

If you do not feel the pressure building in the oil can`s pumping mechanism yet have managed to inhibit oil leaking back out of the oriface, then it seems you have failed at the first step of this process..?

Worth a try..?
