I'm afraid I have to disagree. The roads in North West Scotland are much busier than those in Cumbria. Granted, the roads in the Lake District are busy, but they represent only a small part of Cumbria. There are some great driving roads that take in Upper Weardale, Northumberland and Cumbria. I have frequently driven for 50 miles and barely seen another car!
