My daughter can drive my 61 +4 despite the Moss gearbox. It's a little hard to shift if the 'box gets hot on a summer day, but it's 50 years old and never been rebuilt. My main concern with the Moss box in the +4 is that it only has four gears, which is hard on the old TR3 engine at speeds over 65 mph. That's not a problem with the +8, which can cruise at 80 mph even with the Moss box. Another advantage of the Moss gearbox is that it's pretty small and leaves more room for pedals and feet.
