Simplify, then add lightness. Chapman
The only problem with this is that adding lightness typically comes at a higher initial cost and an even greater cost the lighter the car becomes to keep it "safe".
One of the first things that was a resounding cry around the Morgan community was the final weight amount of the M3W at 525kg. Most of the people who had already purchased the car said that it was plenty fun even with the weight "problem".
There is a different between good and better and bad. Most of the time when people are critiquing something about the new M3W it is assumed that people are saying its bad. Its not that its bad, just that it could be better. 525kgs may not be bad, but wouldn't 425kg be better?
The noise in the upgraded bevel box may not be bad, but wouldnt no noise at all be better?
Obviously a car soo early in production is going to have its unique qwirks that will most likely be worked out in the future, but what those will be at this point is mostly in Charles Morgans hand.

I have already stated on here that I was disappointed with the weight of the car, 525kgs is just too heavy for such a small car, not only would it be cheaper to buy VED, but more important it would drive even better - note the even. It is fun but lack of weight is really important in a small car, Chapman identified it all those years ago, but very few manufacturers have taken it onboard since it seems. It is a small comment, but worth noting nonetheless, that all Caterham bolts are exactly the right length for the fitment, whilst Morgan bolts are a little too long, maybe this gives an indication of the mindset Caterham are in to get their cars to weigh 525kgs, the same as the M3W. I understand that Morgan are working on getting the weight down to at least a motorcycle class VED, 425kgs I believe, hence my comment about the Mk 2 [Steve] car.
My M3W sits in my garage right alongside a Caterham CSR 260, so it is interesting to directly compare the two cars for quality of finish etc, and I would agree that the two are broadly comparable, especially if a few more bolts are being made from rustfree materials. The interior of the Morgan is of course , much nicer, being all leather.
