Does anyone know of a repairer who can perform a hot vulcanised puncture repair? I have a thorn (believe it or not) penetrating one of the Roadster's tyres - in the tread, but close to the edge - which Berrybrook tell me writes the tyre off - at 5,000 miles!

Naturally, if I thought it couldn't be repaired safely, I'd scrap it ... but for a thorn?! I'm sure I've heard that this kind of repair can be done. Anyone know?

If the puncture is close to the tyre wall then no reputable tyre dealer will repair it.

Totally disagree with previous mails, i have had tyres Low profile and Runflats repaired near wall, never had a problem, i trust my tyre repairer and this was a practice for years with out one single problem. get out of your tyres what you can.

you could always charge it to room 217 hide

At 5000 miles a Roadster tyre is say 1/3 worn, so £60 of value left out of £90 replacement cost, knock off £20 for a repair so the punctured tyre owes you £40, not a lot to pay for peace of mind smile

Never had a tyre cost me £20.00 to repair, thank god i live in the cheap end.

Try £300.00 for a BMW635 Run Flat, 10% worn, £8.00 for repair, thats my maths !!

At first I thought you were being controversial. I really do not agree with you on this one.
Yes, I am cautious by nature. Yes, I do not want to waste money.
What you are advocating is false economy. New tyre equates to cost of tank of fuel vs safety. I rest my case.
