Had a pretty serious issue on my M3W recently - the throttle linkage snapped during an overtaking manoeuvre. There is a plastic link with 2 ball ends that connects from the accelerator pedal to the linkage - this broke in 2 places. I've now replaced it but as well as sitting at a 30-40deg angle I also had to bend the new linkage to fit. I have no confidence that given the stress the link is under that it won't break again.

I also have a couple of other very annoying faults that have developed - its got a loud backlash/clunk issue on light throttle which means I also end up driving around in too low a gear to avoid it. The engine also sound very tappety when warm...anybody else suffering from these problems?

I intend to get it back to my dealer in the next couple of weeks to get it diagnosed/fixed and to carry out a 1k service.

At this moment I'm doing more miles and getting more fun out of my 1932 MG J2 than I am out of my M3W which is really disappointing - hopefully it'll get properly fixed when I get it back to my dealer.

I hope you are satisfied once your agent has sorted out a few bits and pieces. My 2009 4/4 Sport has taken 3yrs to quieten down in the teething problem areas, but well worth the wait as I'm sure you will find.

These cars M3W are such a brave adventure in todays Elfinsafely world that they deserve to be a success and for you owners to truly enjoy.

bring it back asap to the dealer
he'll take care of it

I'd be inclined to book it in for a it's first service at the factory who are more likely to have the heads up on all of the potential problems with the 3 wheeler.

Can you post up a picture of the location where it failed so we can all check.

Sorry to hear of the Problems with the New Trike.

'They' say that it was pushed through development too quickly. Probably some 'After Parts' experts will get onto these weak items soon.

Photo of the broken end of the link attached for info - it's a small black plastic link approx 50mm long that connects the accelerator pedal to the linkage on the pedal box..

why would they make this out of plastic instead of metal?

It's presumably been designed by an accountant rather than an engineer.

I think it may be a traction control device - it's certainly stopped me stamping on the accelerator pedal with quite so much enthusiasm, so on the upside my rear tyre may now last a little longer!

seems like something that would be easy enough to take to a fabricator and get made out of something more "substantial"
