After 3 years and 10,500 miles on the clock, I decided to do a check on my fuel economy on a 350 mile round trip last weekend.

I was quite pleased with 52mpg !

(4/4 Sport 1.6 Sigma standard spec, 2 people + luggage. Driving without hood, but with side screens, starting with a full tank of fuel).

It was a steady trip on all types of road, no heroics but not particularly trying to drive economically (could have been more careful if I tried). Encountered some standing traffic too with the engine running all the while.

Anyone done better than that ?
(I reckon it should be good for 55mpg if I was a bit more careful.)

Dont try to hard you might stop enjoying it.

Max does between 24-26, i have had 30.8 on a steady 60mph run to Scotland, but you can also get the needle to dance by working the throttle...... mind it only dances one way and that is quick step towards empty. drive

Spotted correctly ! No shame in that, I can also say. smile
I have also lived in Scotland for many years, so I am even more cautious about wasting brass than the average Yorkshireman !!

But seriously..I think I seem to have touched a nerve with this thread, however, I am simply posting up my findings from a trip where, for the first time, I was able to be accurate about how much juice I had consumed so I thought I would post it up to the knowledge base that is TM. I wondered if people are getting even more than that figure.
I did not drive with my mind set to economy. We had a great run. Don't recall we were ever overtaken, if that is troubling anyone. drive

NorthernMogman you just keep posting, do not be concerned of what people think, many read but do not write, i for one was interested in your post even if you had pushed the car. thumbs
