"..........the 1st gear ratio is quite high and this causes challenges with the Fradley Hairpin .........."
Having driven around Curborough it is a surpise to think you were in 1st.

Having driven around Curborough it is a surpise to think you were in 1st. We were in second... but the high 1st also pushed 2nd up a touch. The net result is that 1st is too low and 2nd is slightly too high. Strangely the stock 2nd is better for that turn. Our 2nd gear is geared for upto 83mph on this engine, so Fradley at 33mph is a bit of a squeeze. Sticking in a gear change does only causes problems.. I've tried it a couple of times. The benefit with the 2nd we have is that you can stick with 2nd all the way around other than the 1-2 shift off the line and the 2-3-4 shift up the long straight

great report Andy, I was the startline Marshall again this year (the handsome one) and thought some of your launches were the smoothest we witnessed, you and Missprint certainly seem to have the wheel spin under control. we won't the 3 false starts caused by lack of juice! glad that the grumpy timekeeper eventually allowed your 5th run. trust me he was a reet grumpy bloody Yorkie, makes you wonder why people get involved if all they can do is be officious. Phil the Egg, Take Care David and I had a great day on the start. the only pity is of course is that once you've taken Paddock bend and the start of your second lap is all we can see from the start, plus we can't hear the snidy commentary from Lord U and his assistant Arthur Daley. good day nonetheless, 2 practice runs each, 6 timed and a run off and all done by 3.30pm, amazing. just shows the attrition rate, with Paul Clarkes brakes failing, as you mention Simon Moores crash and a couple of other withdrawals during the day it was a hectic day, much enjoyed as always.

I was at the Brighton Speed Trails on Saturday, supporting Roger Bluff (TVMOG) in his Roaster. I stood behind the start line when the bikes were taking off. I was astonished at the getaway of the top fuelled bike. It was like they were on elastic.

Ooiii... I'm the handsome one.. ... and never mind the grumpy timekeeper it was grumpy start line marshal who was saying "non" first... Seriously.. great day and much fun for all..start line was a great place to be..even if we missed most (note most) of the spins..... Just need to get a car back and go sprinting again myself..

Update 19 - Woodstock - Deconstruction StageToday we started the preparation work on our latest purchase "Woodstock" a 72 4/4 with a long-standing racing history in the hands of Martyn Culling. We will be re-building the little 4/4 into a 200bhp racer using the proven "interim engine" currently in our other racer. Missprint got stuck straight into sorting out her car getting into the swing of unbolting the variety of parts we won't be using. Getting back to the basic car which we can begin to clean-up, powder coat and paint. We've decided on a Yellow, Charcoal Gray and Black color combination. We started off by stripping the interior and bulkhead followed by the engine-bay. The interior strip included the fuel and power lines which for fuel will be re-routed ouside the car and not on the exhaust side and the power will all be located under the bonnet. Talking under the bonnet, we dis-connected the heater and removed the redundant plumbing. The engine was then removed shortly followed by the gearbox. The interior and engine bay were completely stripped other than the dash electronics meaning we could remove the prop shaft and gear box cover. With the engine out, it gave us a chance to take a closer look at the engine spec. The head is highly modified, the inlet and exhaust ports well flowed with high performance roller-rockers on the tops of the push rods. Double valve springs were also easily visible. We could also see the lightweight fly and the "as new" clutch!!

It's clear that it's one high performance xflow and in very good condition....! With the engine and gearbox stripped out we were also able to compare the Type "E" Rocket Box prop shaft with a spare Type 9 box we had lying around. We quickly realised that whilst the length of the prop was fine the output shafts of the two gearboxes were different in size and we need to sort out a new Input female splined socket on the front of the prop or a new prop (research into this will commence immediately). We have a supplier who can probably sort us.. but it will be interesting to see what others have done. At the end of the day we had stripped out the car and Missprint was having fun.... Woodstock's smiley face... better than a Smart! So at the end of the day... Almost at the point of starting to clean things up.... just the wings to come off.

Great phots. Missprint looks to be having a lot of fun. I bet you both can't wait to get it racing. Good luck with the rebuild.
