Over the last 3 months on 2 occassions I have had the speedo stop working. The 1st time , after driving for approx 50 mls I stopped for 5 mins, switched off the engine, but when I switched on again the speedo stopped working with the calibration fiqure on the digital screen. I switched off and on with no succcess. i then tried switching on with the trip switch pressed in but again no success. Drove using the rev counter - luckly no speed traps. Parked the car for 2hrs, switched on speedo working. 2nd time last night, same occassion , short stop switch on no speedo but this time no speedo even after standing for 2 hrs. However , got home parked in the garage, tried switching on amd off , guess what speedo OK.
I have had one suggestion that moisture might be getting in the ECU. 1st time, no rain during the drive, 2nd time pouring rain.

Any ideas, it's no great having to guess revs vis speed

Dear Eds,

sounds like the little "Reset" button underneath the dashboard might be wet/short-circuited?

I had the same problem on my former 2009 Plus4 after some heavy rain & water dripping from that button....

Was solved as soon as the button has dried out again...

Hope that helps?!

Dear Numog, had a look at the "reset" button. A well sealed unit which I carefully checked around for any signs of water etc, nothing found. Also checked around the area where the button is situated plus upto the the junction on the wiring loom, again no evidence of water. Sunday was a glorious "open top" day in Scotland so I went for a run - switched on and the speedo went into calibration mode but after a short while reverted back to speedo working ( normal calibration mode if the reset button is pressed in when switching on). After the car had stood for 1 hour started it up again : same thing happened. The moggie is due to go to the Morgan agent for some work so I will ask them to look at this problem unless I get any further suggestions that can solve it.
Thanks very for help

Since my last post I have done over a 1000mls; no problems. Took to local Scots dealer for work on the moggie, told him not to bother about the speedo problem because it seems to have gone away - how wrong can I be. Picked up the moggie, driving home no speedo, calibration fiqure in digital display - quickly back to the garage. Morgan mech comments " never seen this before ". Took it off to the garage for further investigation. Back, after a short while, found that when he disconnected the reset button, speedo back to normal. Seems reset button maybe faulty. Am now driving around with the reset button disconnected, just to make sure before I get a new reset button.
