Hi, First time posting and proud new owner of a 1996 morgan plus 4. I live in Trondgheim, Norway so probably have one of the most northern morgans in the world. Soon it will be very cold and lots of snow. Temperatures are often between 0 and -10 and can be between -10 and -20. Sometimes we get a few days at -30. I have a good double garadge but it sitts at the bottom of a slope, when snow melts the garadge can more or less get half way flooded with melt water. I have been looking for a way to protect my morgan in the wintur months and am concidering useing the following http://www.carcoon.co.uk/Has anyone used one of these and if so do you have any feedback. Would general morgan owners recommend this and if not why not ?? regards David

Sorry to put a dampner on it but the garage filling up with water is not going to do your Morgan any good water metal and wood dont match . You need to stop the water or get another garage . The carcoon has two PC fans near the bottom with sponge filters they are as fickle as hell the water would kill them .

Thanks for the response.
The water is usually only for a few days in the year when the snow melts ie spring. I can probably limit it somewhat by shoveling the snow earlier in the year.
The water would only be a meter from the main doors or so inside the garadge as well. ie it might hit the back wheels but only for a few days. Most of the winter everything is frozen solid.
As i understand it it is advised to start the morgan every so often and move it abit to distribut weight on the wheels. This would be hard to do with the carcoon. I was wondering if the carcoon gave enough protection to make it worth buying. or is hould just leave the morgan as it is start it and move it once or twice a week

Don't use a Carcoon but do have an Airchamber which works along similar principles. As my garage is not airtight I find that damp is drawn in by the fans when its wet/foggy outside and I get small 'puddles' on the plastic floor. With this in mind I always switch off the fans when its foggy/raining. After all, the whole point of keeping the car in the garage is to keep it dry!

Looks like one hell of a lot of work watch your rear wheels and the wires with the water . Carcoons come in differant sizes you can unzip part and push your car to and fro . Dont park it in gear or with the hand brake on if its wet and cold . I once had it so cold the oil went thick and I could not change gear . Started it up let it run a while and the oil thinned . Its up to you a new mog is not cheap I have used a carcoon for over 15 year and it can get cold here . When its well run in may be wise to change to Mobil 1 oil if it going to stand a while in freezing conditions. Thanks for the response.

I think the bottom line is that you keep the car away from standing water and let it breathe.
Air flow is important...lots of it. It dries things out fast and that's what you need.....an even temperature is important too. Difficult in the UK due to temps flipping between + and - most winter days.

i've just started using Carcoon, so too early to comment on performance. the zip is close to ground though - strong running water and any puddles may penetrate 'coon. Anybody used a Permabag ? my suggestion (ready to be shot down...): roll tyres & press pedals every week, put fan heater under car weekly for few minutes dry-off, start her up for over 30mins every 5 weeks.
