Gambalunga,
The 'Z' sections are the two main steel chassis rails either side of the car. At no point ie. at any point through the length of the car, should they fall below this level of clearance.

Thanks Cereal.

This topic and the development of the cars has got me so interested I'm seriously thinking of taking a low cost flight and a couple of days to come and watch you and Miss Print in action next year. Are there any tracks where you will be racing within reasonable striking distance of one of the airports serviced by low cost flights?

I don't need much of an excuse to get to watch at Curborough! Not far from the airport so you are very welcome to a lift Peter......and a room if you want.

Update 21 - Finishing the floor and putting in the scuttle roll bar

This weekend saw the completion of the floor and the installation of the scuttle roll bar.

First-up, the floor was completed. We filled in the floor and used the original wooden deck both the deck itself and the original frame painted grey. We used 1mm Ali to trim the wheel arches and dressed the Ali over the edge onto the top of the wheel-arch. Later we will put a top piece on to complete the trimming of the wheel-arch.

We also used the opportunity to replace the rear pannel as we needed to get into the fuel tank area to replace a snapped wooden frame - which looks like it's been caused by overloading at some point.

In order to sort out where to put the underfloor seat brackets we dummied in the seats and Missprint got comfortable. We lined up the brackets and seam welded steel plates across the chassis to safely mount the brackets to. We put an additional smaller re-enforcing place across the edge join to ensure maximum anchorage. Once this was completed the Ali floor plates were bonded into place.

Next up.... sorting out the scuttle roll=bar.....

The doors were taken off earlier in the week to strip the interior trim off.

The leather has been replaced with Ali 1mm sheet similar to that on the rear wheel arches - though un-finished, it looks great.

Right.. back to the roll-bar. First up, stripping out the dash. Whilst all the old gauges work they will all be replaced. I have a complete RaceTechnology DL1 Telemetry system and Dash 2 digital dash already to go. So after unscrewing the dash, a lot of labelling had to be done. Also lots of nugatory wiring was stripped out cleaning the harness back to it's original state.

Having moved the dash out the way. The roll bar brackets could be mounted. In the end we made a set as they needed to be extra wide.

With a spacer on the bulkhead we bolted the scuttle roll bar into place whilst also supporting the bulkhead in position - Sorted.!
