Glad to hear the recovery is going well G.
I had a cartilage problem (it seized) and the Mackie man ground the offending bits off and hoovered the junk out under microsurgery.
Had it have been NHS I'd still be in a chair waiting !
I walked out with with aid of a stick but building the muscle up again was uphill and took about 3 months but well worth it.
Regards Richard

Regards Richard Funnily enough, I was very happy to go non- nhs but he wasn't happy to do it that way, so I had to wait. That having been said, I wasn't kept hanging around. I hate GAs and they make me very sick ( anti- emetics notwithstanding) so I went for spinal block, no sedatives and watched it all on the telly!! Had the added advantage that I could start some very basic static exercises about an hour after leaving theatre Nothing if not OCD, me!! Cheeers G

Oh your'e a brave man G watching it all on the telly. I could watch someone elses Good Luck Well, I used to do a bit of first aid/ EMT stuff with a mountain rescue team, so the blood and bone stuff doesn't worry me that much Two things I did find a bit strange tho: first, because of the way the camera magnifies, what was in fact a fairly small lesion on the condyle looked like the grand canyon and two, although there was no neuropathic pain, every time they made a microfrature ( they use an angled 'awl' similar to a cobbler) especially where it was being hit with a hammer, it felt as if somebody was banging on my head coming from my feet up!! Oh your'e a brave man G watching it all on the telly. I could watch someone elses Good Luck Had my carpel tunnels done a few years back, laid out mon a cross shaped bed ( Crucifiction style) with anaesthetic in both hands. Couldnt resist watching what was going on which seemed to irritate the doc. So he demonstrated the function of the wrist to me in the same way we used to play with chicken legs in my childhood. Scissors under the opened up tendons and he could make my fingers and hand do all sorts of gestures without me moving a muscle. Weird. To the OP. What sort of sailing by the way?

I remember Gunther Von Hagens doing that a few years ago. Weirdly I found the demonstrating of tendons far more disturbing than him cutting up genitalia. Eurgh!

Up until now mostly small stuff - spent a couple of seasons crewing for a guy on a Merlin Rocket but I'd really like to go up a stage and do some coastal/ open water water stuff hence have done competent crew and just about on last bit of day skipper The craft in question was a Nicholson 32- guy I know in South Wales sails over to the Med regularly and happened to be in Malta to take part in the Middle Sea Race and this coincided with one of my teaching stints at the university
We were fairly late in to the Marina and just about to tie off when some AH in a gin palace came by exceeding the speed limit and causing a large wash. I went one way, my knee stayed still deep joy G
