Welcome to TM Jeremy! When you say padded dash...do you mean the top coaming or the dash itself? Earlier cars had no safety padding on the coaming (if that's the correct term!) , I'm not sure when it was introduced but certainly before your cars year. Personally I rather like them without the padding.
Some photos of the car are always desirable on the forum.....and your other cars as well!
