Do have a look at other reviews though. Every single car ever reviewed is criticised for wind noise.

Tbh, I think he speaks with very little knowledge of sports car ownership (especially long-term), and completely failed to understand the Morgan philosophy, heritage, and it's niche market. It is not about value for money, and certainly not about the wind noises or more technology gadgets. I'd hate to read his review on a Daytona or a Dino which are so desirable to enthusiasts. We know what tickles our fancy, and that's good enough by me.

We do look at our Morgans with rosé tinted spectacles though.....lets be honest here....the door window fit on the examples I've seen is dreadful. It may be a niche car and hand built but for the price it is, there is just no excuse.

I'd still love one though.... love

I always struggle with these reviews, because most of them are not massively unfair in my opinion.

The fit and finish is not quite as good as other cars in this price bracket - it's just not.

The handling is also 'different' in many respects to other cars in the same price bracket.

But it's not the point of a Morgan - otherwise I would have bought something else. There's lots of choice.

To sit in and drive a Morgan is one of life's pleasures - cars of real beauty and personality. Rapid little cars that hustle along the country lanes whilst simultaneously transporting you to another era.

Ill fitting windows? Wind noise? Tyre noise? Yup. I know.

Bothered?

The one part I am inclined to view without my rose-tinted specs is the following: -

"The engine sounds incredible when you fire it up, and even better when you extend it. The thing is, it doesn’t quieten down much once you’re up to cruising speed, so the noise is always there"

Personally, and I said this once I'd spent a week behind the wheel of the factory Aeromax, with side pipes, touring round France. IMHO, the coupes do not suit the side pipes. I can understand the allure in the Aero SS and the Aero 8 but on the Aeromax, and I would imagine the Coupe, I simply felt the noise from the pipe became a drone at speed, rather than musical accompaniment to your drive. When accelerating, you have a variety of tone but when cruising the single note annoyed me to no end; in fact, I found myself trying to vary the speed simply to alleviate the drone. Having spent a fair amount of time as a passenger in Boshly's Aero 8, I never experienced this in the soft top.

As for wind noise, unless the rear deck treatment of the Aero SS Coupe makes it less aerodynamic than the Aeromax, thus creating a back-draft, I think he is being exceedingly picky. The noise emanates from the wing mirrors on the Aeromax and I would imagine this is the same for the SS Coupe. Whilst not as quiet as a 911, it is hardly noisy.

I agree with you neilda. We are a bit rosy-tinted. Its true that at this price, even taking account of low depreciation, most other cars' standards are higher than Morgan's. But then they are way behind in style and the cachet.

What I find a bit frustrating is things like the power steering set up (the review is correct) can surely be fixed by altering settings. And finish detailing can't be that expensive for the factory. TVR is dead admittedly, but when it was prospering, it did get the finish right, and on smaller volumes than Morgan.

Having said that, I still bought a Morgan, and am delighted with it.
