I've always found Miscellany useful for the "for sale" ads, both private and dealer. The occasional article stirs my interest too (eg Le Mans write ups, Concours articles).

What I find interesting / slightly worrying is that the same vehicles have appeared "for sale" at a number of dealers for the whole of the summer. It's good for resale values of course, that the vehicles concerned are not being reduced in asking price, but does that mean some dealers might be struggling for cash flow this winter?

Miscellany is the worst club mag I have ever come across, and rather worryingly it has been since I have been a member of the MSCC. (But at least they have stopped the articles by the talking Morgan)

Landrover magazine and MX5 both have a more modern format.
The March 2012 issue I looked at din't have any technical content (although I was surprised to find pictures of a naked man standing infront of a Landrover)
The MX5 magazine does look fun.
The VSCC bulletin is very good.
It also needs to be borne in mind that the magazine reflects the articles sent in by members and the interests of the membership.
The point of the survey is to find out opinions in order to make changes.
MG Car Club is a much bigger club.

Is the tea and cakes run type of article that seems to be (over) done so often, because a lot of folks have new or quite new vehicles and it is rare they ever look under the bonnet apart from doing a bit of polishing?
A generalisation I know as there seems to be quite a few owners with older cars who like to use them as intended and maintain them. Has the club ever polled the membership on what they would like to see in the magazine? How many of you have submitted a technical article never to have had it published?

I think there needs to be more of a balance.

Sprinty is right to say that the magazine must reflect the interests of the members and I am not for banning all the “tea and cakes articles” - they can sometimes be entertaining and there is obviously a readership for them.

I did think that this months magazine was bit better. There was the MX5/ 4-4 article which was good, and also the entertaining piece on Neil Martins Morgan paintings. I enjoy the Chairman’s and Editor’s columns and the Concours Spot. Just a bit more variety, thats all.

I certainly don’t bin my magazines. I like to keep them for future browsing.

I have owned a trad Morgan for only a few months and would very much like to not only enjoy the fun of driving it but also maintain it to some degree myself. As an electrical engineer I have some experience of using tools and getting my hands dirty but am a bit embarrassed to say that I have not done any car maintenance since I owned an MG Midget some 40 years ago.

My point is that I really would like to learn how to service and do basic maintenance but have been unable to find any articles in Mog or Miscellany that provide any such basic information. In my MG days I bought a Haynes manual and was on my way but similar does not seem to exist for Morgans. I am sure that there are other people that would like to learn how to maintain their cars but do not know where to begin. Until the various mags start to cater for those of us in this situation does anyone have any suggestions?

BHM hold an occasional 'workshop' day, however that might be a bit far away for you.
I'm not sure whether any of the other dealers do the same...
Reminds me, must do the front suspension!
