PaulJ,
I can certainly see why you're miffed and I also think the steering is probably verging on dangerous on my car as it is now for higher speeds, and it sounds as though yours is the same or worse. I can't remember when your car arrived but I think from reading other posts that you probably have the earlier steering, since it's only just coming through. Reports from my dealer BHM suggest the kickback is a good deal less violent on my car than on others they have driven. Would be interesting to hear what you think of the new steering and other mods.
I'll experiment and post updates and no doubt we'll hear other stories too. I agree that the factory needs to take a keen interest in resolving this, because it is only a matter of time before someone comes a cropper.
Looking forward to finding a nice wide smooth (private) road and taking it to 80 or 90 mph to see what happens. Hopefully this will not be my last post!!
Is your rear wheel mounted about an inch left of centre as you look from behind too?

I don't think the width of the tyres have any real bearing on the kickback issues, it's more the geometry that MMC are forced to use because they have the rack behind and above the engine, instead of in front of it like the original Ace, and other V twin threewheelers.
Thanks Wiscos, I picked mine up in May, so a very early car, and I will be taking it back to the factory in the next few weeks for upgraded suspension - shocks and lwishbones, and hopefully a new rack too. I have already fitted a steering damper, with little positive affect, so any improvement will be more than welcome.

Hi PaulJ
I have no other experience of margans or three wheelers, but i do have some issue with the amount of kickback, especially at 100 kph ish speeds. I would like to know if what I experience is "normal". I look forward to your post of how things are after your upgrades. I got my car in June in NZ but it was manufactured March April. ( a long delivery voyage !!). This would make it an early car? I would like to find out what chassis/body/build number it is. Can anyone advise where to look for this info? Was there a sequence to the numbering ? I believe there was a thread in the informational forums somewhere re car numbers The handbook says something about passenger cross brace? but i had a manly look and found nothing !!

Hi NewZealand friend, I think that what you are experiencing is 'normal' but not correct, if you see what I mean, which is why I hope that the factory are working to alleviate it, because on anything other that smooth roads, and at any speed over 50mph it can get quite scary. I cruised home a couple of months ago, at 10pm at night on the A30 up through Cornwall at an indicated 80 - 90, but the road was smooth and there wasn't much traffic around, and it was a lovely journey, but if I take it out on any of the country roads around me, it can get very lively at 30 -40 mph with the steering wheel literally having a life of its' own in my hands.
I feel that if owners aren't satisfied with the way the car is behaving, they should contact the factory and ask what is being done to fix this, the more people that do this, the more urgently they will will treat the 'fix'

Gents, took my car with latest steering spec on a 60 mile run today including A and B roads and Motorways.
Car was excellent on motorway - stable and easy. Not what I expected after B roads with bumps, but even those seemed ok today with feedback / kickback but not excessively so.
on A roads / dual carriageways car was great and stable also. In fact, car was tremendous fun all round and I'm feeling a bit sheepish about my earlier comments. On today's evidence I think the car is imperfect in some ways (still rather too much bumpsteer on bad B roads) but overall rather wonderful.
Huge smile and a very happy driver - now just need to get rid of some strange noises that I would rather be without...

Did another 60 mile run back from Sussex to Surrey / Kent borders yesterday and again car was great fun. Stability was fine. Bumpsteer is only an issue on pretty poor roads at medium speeds. Man hole bunps on A roads give some kickback but the car stays pretty true and I'm ok with it.
On the way down M23 did about 75mph but then slowed to 65ish and kept well back from other vehicles. I had a leather flying helmet and goggles over a motorcycle warm face and neck balaclava and stayed warm. Balaclava is slightly padded and gives some small protection from stones too.
On way back used beanie hat pulled down over sunglasses with balaclava. Not so good thermally but less wind noise in my ears. Will find the ideal combination soon! Will try my proper bike helmet soon but feel a bit daft wearing that (although it is possibly the most sensible thing to wear.
The noises from the bevel box - now at 590 miles - seem to have got worse rather than better... I am not convinced that I have one of the latest batch on mine. Fairly quiet at low speed but by 45 mph or so starts to get very noisy and shrieks a lot at 60 +, especially under load.
Is this still typical of others with the latest bevel box? I'm getting quite a bit of belt noise and squeaks too, and the clutch is now making some noise that I didn't first notice. What with the vibration coming from somewhere in front of me and a few other build issues it's going back to the dealers tomorrow.
Will be fantastic when sorted, but it is definitely not ok out of the box and this car was out of the factory 10th October - number 362.

The Chassis number is under the Drivers seat squab - or the passengers if u r LHD! You need to give the squab a good tug as its tight fit - on the cross spar u will see yr chassis number it will read....M3W xxx - good luck ope u find it ok:))

You need to give the pigeon a good tug as its tight fit ..... I have learnt two things today! Where my build number is (I will look later) and the posh (or simply alternative) name for a cushion
