Hi,
I am currently doing a Management degree at St Andrews and in my final year.. One of the modules is Dynamic Strategic Management and for that we have the assess the statergy of a company..

For that company I have chosen the Morgan Motor Company as I felt it helps if you chose one that you know a bit about..

Now i understand that Charles Morgan in now the Corporate Strategy Director so do Morgan publish a corporate statergy?

Does anyone have any resports or info on it?

In terms of publications I recall reading in the Laban book that there was an assesment of the corporate strategy done in the 90's but unable to find it.

A lot of information, including MMC comments on their own corporate direction and financial situation, are available from their public filings. You will likely find a lot of that (2001-2006) at Company House in the UK. There is more strategy stuff in the MMC supporting documentation filed with NHTSA (also on line) in the US. NHTSA requires applicants to table the strategic considerations for each request under affidavit.


A good read that book!..but not totally accurate. Laban was referring to two infamous television analysis (on the program "The Troubleshooter") done by Sir John Harvey-Jones. Harvey-Jones is a very intelligent, fun guy, but it is generally accepted that he was many miles off the mark with Morgan. There are tapes of the episodes. I am sure someone here can copy and send them to you.

Any approach to any Company will be more cogent if you have the background under your belt.

I would suggest that you read the Powerpoint presentation "Past, Present and Future" on the MMC website. It is an interesting document prepared by Charles Morgan himself.

Thanks for your help.. I know a good bit of the background as I have lived with a Morgan all my life and had a keen interest in them.

I am aware of the Harvey Jones approach but I am sure there was another report done a University PHD student on the assesment of the british sports car industry...
