I would reject the car.

It's not what you ordered, auto is a fairly major specification.

I would be expecting to be looking for a new job had I have dropped a *ollock this big.

Who said the Devil is in the detail obviously didn't have a clue, this is a howler.

I just hope Rene gets very fair treatment and recompense & there is no sliding scale for anticipation and dissapointment.

Be sure of your facts here, when i ordered my plus 8 i had to fill in a specification form at the dealers, then they returned this to me in the form of an order which I had to sign to confirm the specification and T/Cs. This became legal on paying the deposit. So not sure how this mistake could have got to this stage?

I had an Auto-box in the Aeromax
but would prefer a Manual in the Plus8
on long hauls you might find difficult to place your left-food
with the manual gearbox
but the Plus8 isn't a GT like the Aeromax
more a sportscar

just my opinion
your dealer should anyway take the car back if you do NOT want a maual
otherwise, if you accept the car; he could/should make a nice gesture

did you notice the difference in CO-emmisions 282(manual)vs256(autobox)
might be costly when road-tax is based on that number
(like it will from 2014 in .BE)

Absolutely, this difference in co2 emissions makes a difference in tax here in Switzerland and even worst - we have to pay additional tax for this co2 heavy-weights which increases on a yearly base; e.g. ~ +8k in 2012, ~ +16k in 2013 etc.

A new delivery/registration in 2013 would therefore cost additional 8k ...

However, thanks to all your positive feedback on the manual 6 spd box I tend to go for this "beauty :)" and will give the dealer a opportunity to fairly compensate the pain.

Accept the vehicle once you have a document from the factory stating that they will replace the vehicle with a correctly built vehicle. It must have the same numbers and registration information. Get them to register it as Auto from the start.

Its worth a try and either the dealer or the factory do owe you a little more than a favour. Get the letter face to face in the factory, video it, signed in blood, penalty clause that makes them focus. THe option is that they pay the difference in registration and annual costs for you.

Hi Rene,
I've an auto +8, done 1,000 miles. I was told the +8 chassis comes in two shapes, auto and manual are different. (The auto box requires more room, so I guess, stress guess, that it may be possible to switch from auto to manual but not to go from manual to auto in the same chassis.)
But that's irrelevant, sounds like the problem is with your dealer.
For what its worth, the torque is utterly amazing, so in auto it revs very slowly - so manual should be an easy drive, very flexible. My problem is that when I use mine in manual mode its just tooo tempting to go very very quickly indeed.
