From Facebook, posted my my online pal:

'All is progressing nicely with the 4/4, but not so good news on Little Nellie (the 3 wheeler!). Whilst back at RPM for it's service and a number of new parts (compensator, bevel box, rear cog, a new headlamp, oil tank and shock absorber) , their keen eyes spotted a hole and stress cracks in the chassis behind the engine, so it's back with Morgan and getting a new chassis fitted as well! Just as well it's not convertible weather right now. The drive belt is also rubbing against the rear tyre and scuffing it quite badly....has anyone else had this problem?'

Hope it's a isolated case...

Not completely an isolated incident regarding the belt rubbing the back tyre....ours got pretty bad (ie noisy) during our 1250 mile July trip in Spain/France....was sorted under warranty with new belt/pulley/tyre etc when the bevel box was changed....has since been fine. Our 3W is around #92 and was built in April.

If you look closely, the belt is located by flanges on one side of the drive pulley and the opposite side of the driven pulley. On the driven pulley the flange is on the tyre side but the belt will touch the tyre before it can get to the flange. I suspect it is kept away from the tyre by fine adjustment of the bevel box alignment.

Nothing that a bit of braze wouldn't sort out!

just coming across this as my belt has had issues with alignment and has been adjusted 4 (or 5 can't remember). i've got nasty compensator klunking/knocking at low rpms.

these are the times where i wish i was close to the factory and could have it sent over for a gutting.

grr

Anytime you let the revs go below 2700rpm this will happen. S&S most strongly warns about lugging the engine below this. It does not a happy camper make...

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

sadly this is much more than the low rpm blues that the engine doesn't like. this is something much more troubling. i subscribed to the low rpm theory at first but 5,000 miles later it's gotten worse and the car sounds awful.

I hear you, Blake (pun not intended) - mine is getting louder as well.
It sounds like something is going to break any minute.

I still enjoy it a lot, but I wonder how wide my grin would be without the rattling and other mechanical noises.

M3W, now!!!

Such a shame you have had so many issues - you don't seem to have had much luck with your car frown2
