I have a friend who has become addicted to brake fluid.

He says it s okay, because he can stop whenever he wants.

A Geordie goes over to America and joins Custer.
Custer say's we need some scout's to check on those Indians are there any volunteers .
"Al de it ah was in the scoot's as a bairn"
Custer sends a few men into the area inc the Geordie
A day later they return and Custer ask's the Americans
what they saw. nothing sir.
He turns to the Geordie , " did you see any Indians Geordie " .
"Oh I", " you did how many", "wor man there was hundred's of them" .
" What where the doing ", " Weel they wor dancin and jumpin aboot hoopin and holerin and bangin on drums " "Tell me Geordie where they war drums " .

" No they were there's ."




( Wor mean's our's i.e. wor lass = my wife. )

JTL - My wife, who tells me she could do with a good laugh, really enjoyed hearing me read these out to her last night as she cleared the snow away from the path so she could bring the coal in.

was shouting at me last night tea,s ready how come they shout at the spot on time I was waiting for the glue to go off , why can't she shout before or after. I thought I know what to do with this glue but lost my nerve.

JTL - In your part of the world do you call the evening meal "tea" or was it a cup of tea?

When my parents first arrived in Australia (1949) they invited the neighbours to tea. They said "What time will we come?" and my mother said 3 o'clock. They came at 3 and were duly served tea and cake. After a couple of hours my mother thought she had better prepare dinner and they stayed to dinner. It was only later that discovered the evening meal was, at that time, called "tea"in Australia.

I think that usage has pretty much died out now.

Butting in Peter I believe I live close to JTL and yes I am visiting my mothers this evening for tea, it consists of a full Roast Dinner and Pudding for Dessert
