BTW, as already mentioned on previous occasions, I too have a penchant for the 2CV. I have very happy memories of the one I owned, but as you say, if you were in a serious accident in one, at least the end would be quick.

at least the end would be quick. Youtube crash test 2cv, and look for the clip of the Red Berliet lorry backending a row of six Seventies motors. The 2cv is the back car. Wet cardboard springs to mind...

The words Crash Test Dummy's brings back a smile. In the winter 1988-89 my car was in a friends garage stripped down to the chassis . He had given me the spare keys to his work shop to go up after time and w/ends and work my bits off on it.
He was a Volvo agent .
It was the winter months and I worked on it , I walked into the dark lights off loo flicked the light on and one of those dummy's was sitting looking at me , I needed the loo fast! .
The next time I looked under the chassis he was there with a spanner , then the bonnet up and his head looking at me . They set out to scare the hell out of me and did as it was cold and windy the garage creaked and no one around but me they hid them all over .
I poured myself a cup of coffee and it clicked , the following night I put the sugar jar contents in a bin and filled it with salt ready for their fix the next morning . Funny they did not say a word and the dummy's stopped . Happy day's
