Ive just got my 2011 4/4 back from the dealer after the first annual service at 5K
The motor is now running and revving very well which is some compensation for the over tall gearing (given Australia's top speed of 100 K on most roads)
I have a new badge, new sunvisors ( kept falling down), new cable for the easy up ( so I dont have to remove the spare wheel to release the roof. Thanks to Chris at the dealers.
A couple of questions. . .
1 Should. I fill the interstices in my badge with some form of laquer to stop the blue bits falling out again.
2 I have a Mota Lita steering wheel which leaves me with the ugly plastic cowel covering the stainless steel boss I dont likecthe idea of covering it with leather which defeats the purpose as the boss is still hidden . I am thinking of carefully cutting the plastic back by about 4 inches, fabricating a simple light steel baffle to wrap aroung the boss,then covering it with leather to match the seats.
Any thoughts?

Jeff There was a previous post by someone who had made a plate from metal to fill the hole, a very neat solution . I'm sure if he went into production he would sell them easily

I have Allon Whites leather covered cowl which covers up the ugly gap but still shows a good bit of the steering wheel boss.

The cowl really needs a complet re-design. It could be moulded in fibreglass and either painted (matt black) or covered in leather. If anyone dicides to do I I will put my name down for one now.

Phil Ledgerwood does a nice mod to the current plastic cowl with what looks like some black plastic door frame trim. I picked up on it when we went to look at a car there. You can just about see it on the photos he has of the cars for sale on his site. It's a relatively inexpensive mod that covers up the exposed plastic edge of the cowl nicely. I don't know why he factory doesn't do this as part of the original build really.

I don't know but I think they must use a standard cowl (Ford?) that comes with the steering column assembly and looks OK with the standard wheel. The problem is when it is replaced by a Moto-Lita wheel and boss and not only is a good part of the boss hidden but an ugly gap is left by the round boss being in a rectangular opening.

I have a polished s/steel one but unsure as to if it will fit your car , E-mail Heart Of England Morgans and ask . It was a pig to fit to the first dash . On this new dash it blends in well with the MotoLita wheel . You have to take care as the main beam stalk can touch and it wears through the plastic on the stalk and pop the fuse . Took me a good while to find that out, now the s/steel cowl is a bit lower down so the stalk does not touch .

I think the current cowls are made for Morgan. There is no maker stamp on them so highly unlikely therefore to be one of the major car manufacturers who have part numbers and logo moulded in. Also the quality is too poor to be a major manufacturer. Sorry MMC......not being rude there...it's just a case of economics!

Hi Jeff - I know what you mean about the standard cowl. It's bad enough with a standard wheel, but looks especially awful if you have a nice Mota Lita or similar wheel. In Europe a German company - MK Holztechnik - make a stainless steel replacement cowl, and can even make matching wiper/indicator stalks. http://www.mk-holztechnik.de/englisch/morgan-accessories/interior-accessories/index.htmlThe cowl is straightforward (MK simply ship it to you) but the indicator stalks are more complex as they work on an exchange basis with the OEM parts.
