Just picked the Aero up from its service at Mogsport. Had a Simmonds Fuel Flap and the Richbrook (Aero America) gear knob fitted. Also trying Red Stuff pads in an effort to get rid of brake judder (an experiment at this stage). Also noticed the Emmissions on the MOT form as follows: CO 0.00% v(limit 0.20%) HC 10ppm (limit 200ppm) Looks like it can take more fuel (i.e. chipping without loosing the MOT then)

Nice mods Phil and well worth the investment. I understand the Simmonds filler flap means blow-back is reduced when you fill the tank. You'll have to let us know whether it practice it does acutally achieve that.

Both look very smart. I've just fitted a wooden gear knob on my 4/4 rather than the original Sierra lump. Looks much more like it.

Let me know if the cap solves filling. I'm planning to reuse my aero cap on my 1976 3000M it's straight out of BL in the 1970s and for the record doesn't fill quick either!
Also like the knob very OEM- how much?

Also like the knob very OEM- how much? Not used it yet for a fill but I'll let you know. The knob is made by Richbrook and IS OE on the Aero America. I paid £19.95 for mine from them direct.

Looks very good, do you have costs for supplying and fitting the fuel filler cap. Also like your hood envelope, is that from Steve Simmonds?

The flap was fitted as part of the overall service so I cannot seperate out the labour etc. Give Chas Windridge a call on 07776295172 he will giev you a price.
Not sure who made the cover. I don't think it was Steve although he could do one. I think it might have been Tudor.

Fitting a fuel filler cap such as this is not difficult - I have fitted a Monza type to my 4/4 in about 1 hour at most. So long as you put masking tape on the paint where drilling is required and are comfortable loosening and tightening jubilee clips, it is a doddle. Use some "Fairy Liquid" on the fitting to get the pipe back on! Do it yourself and you'll feel better about the mod in any event. I don't think there is any real danger to your car

Just to let you know I used the filler cap for the first time in anger last night. It was an absolute doddle compared to how it was. Just open up and fill to the first click. JD.
