Hi everyone, the motor on the heater has finally gone on my 1978 4/4, would anyone know where I could purchase another? Are they interchangeable with any other make of car from that period?

I am not sure but have you checked the connections to the resistor at the back and the earth? Both of mine caused me to think it had failed, when it hadn't really....

The resistor is behind the heater and should have a connection at either end.

The earth is a "fly lead" from the heater to some point (mine was a ring connection between the heater casing and had rusted).

I am not familiar with the specific heater for your madel but these people, Clayton Heaters, may be able to assist you? In addition to replacement heaters they mention heater motors.

Just checked with my 78 4/4 There is one on ebay at the moment that looks the same as mine. if you type in [smiths heater motor new old stock morris austin]
you should find it. The trouble is it doesn't go for another week.

If I get the 4-seater, I might be interested in the '73 heater. Current owner removed the one fitted in the first year of ownership...
