Morgan Aeromax For Sale

It will be interesting to see how the MMC are going to treat the speculators who have got orders down for the Aeromax, that is providing a premium is sustainable. coffee

This Morgan dealer has been offering this Aeromax for many months on a German car web page
Leberfinger offer
I don't know whether Leberfinger asks the list price I only thought about this: Are there other cars bouhgt by Morgan agents only and not by customers?

From what I remember Rod, the UK price was £110k which equates to a nett price before VAT of just under £94k. The nett price shown on the advertisement in Classic Driver is £113k, so the effective premium is £20k. sick grin2

Do they say on the other advert whether they are selling it on behalf of somebody? cheers

Brian,

No, no other owners involved. I had thought the 'European' price was 185,000 Euro (inclusive VAT) but I remember Aero prices increased as well before the cars were delivered. Furthermore when 185,000 Euro were announced VAT in Germany was 3 % lower. IMO the dealer is much too smart to offer a car above the list prices in an English magazine that hasn't been built yet. Normally if agents get greedy they sell the cars to friends and offer them for friends...

Roderich is correct of course. In one country, Morgans are ordered under wine names in the buyer slot.

On residuals, some dealers and owners have recently addressed the company to find ways of keeping the Aero residuals more buoyant. 40% in 2 years is not unusual. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...em=150183212893

The Company responded a few weeks ago by proposing the elimination of the Dealer Demo Assistance Package. That will make it much harder for dealers to sell at cars below retail and maybe keep recently sold cars at a higher residual level. It will also save the company money.

Of course, there will be less demonstrators and that will effect sales.

Is that ebay sale normal? Surely the RHD prices are higher I thought they held their value well?

The sale went well and exceeded the reserve price. A few weeks ago there was another 2005 with 600 miles being privately offered at $60,000.

As a base line reference, it is expected the Aero Series IV will have an all-in retail price of over $160,000 USD.

I think it's a straight demand and supply thing. As has been pointed out Aero's are not selling too well in the USA and so that will hit residuals. If dealers have new stock not moving them the consequences for residuals follows.

Interstingly this does not appear the case in the UK where new one's sell. I understand Phil Ledgerwoor sold his demo car virtually as soon as it arrived.

Perhaps we could debate why the difference? What is influencing things?

Lorne do you have any recent Auto journal/magzine reviews we could see from North America online? EVO here has been very positive and has influenced buyers. What is being said 'over the pond'? coffee

Whilst the Aero 8 Series IV prices will no doubt be higher to reflect, at least the 4.8L engine, the price in America is also a function of the current exchange rates and in particular the weak US Dollar. grin2

Phil,

As I am sure you know, as a rule of thumb most cars are expected to loose about 40% of their value in the first two years and there is not really any reason why Morgan's are exempt from this. Currently, the Aero's are running ahead of the depreciation curve and if you want to suffer really massive depreciation on a car in the UK, buy virtually any new Aston. scared

It will be interesting to see how the new Maserati Granturismo fares, as in the past they were particularly bad though the QP has rescued their reputation to some extent. I may end up keeping mine for a bit longer than my usual tenure! grin2

Basically, and as we all know, most new cars are not investments but should be bought purely for the pleasure that they bring the user. woohoo
