Hi, Took the 1991 4/4 out today and the clutch pedal decided to stay down at traffic lights.I manage to spring it back up by catching shoe under it.
It was fine for the rest of the run then the same thing happened. Any ideas? It is the type9 box with cable clutch.
Thanks Andrew

I'm assuming that the cable is ok.

The return is caused by the lever on the bell housing. Has this returned tothe normal position? If it has I suspect that the rubber grommets at the bulkhead are binding/jamming.

Other things is greasing of the cluch pedal and other linkage son the engine side of the bulkhead.

You can see diagrams from here here.

Hi brownbaker,
I was having a similar problem with my brake pedal recently. On older cars theres a grease nipple on the bottom of the brake and clutch pedal where they pivot on the floor. Give them some new grease and work the pedal back and forth a few times. Its a bit of a game getting your head and arms in the footwell to do it but worth it. I don't think my pedals had been regreased ths century by how much better they were afterwards!
