I am wanting to replace my door mirrors. I took the retaining screw out but the mirrors only lift out so far, but not all the way. What do I need to do to get them out of the "stalk holders"?

I was the one who originated the thread above. I followed MonteZooma’s advice and all was well. See my acknowledgement at http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/117106
The only thing I would add was that at the start I had to pull the mirrors out with more oomph that I originally thought would be necessary. At the end of the original mirror stem was a round clip. I took this off but could not re-fit on the replacement mirror stem, which had a slightly larger diameter. A couple of windings of duct tape ensured that the new stem slipped into the base and was held tight with no rattling. 100 or so miles since I did this I am very pleased with the result.

Sounds good. I'll get it done this evening.

Thanks.

OK, done it. The new round ones look much better and I can now see behind me on the nearside (passenger side, over here). However, as the little gray plastic mirror stalk inserts are 20 years old they split at the "shoulder" and look a bit of a mess. I can cut the shoulders off and seal with some clear caulk, but I would prefer to have new plastic inserts. Does anyone sell them, or anyone sell me a pair? I'll be in England for 10 days in Feb so could pick them up.

Cheers.
