Putting the roof down today I managed to remove on of the studs from the body of the car. I'd forgotten to un-pop it.

It's the car end of the little chrome stud with the end that lifts.... If that makes sense. The bit on the body of the car was the male element, like a tiny rivet.

Can this be repaired? It's right behind the passenger door...

Am v annoyed obviously. Grrrrrrr!

Should be no problem to repair, it is a little screw in stud.
Did it break, or pull right out?

I have a spare one if you struggle to find one, but your dealer should be able to let you have a couple

That is kind, thank you.

It's only half come out (I think). It looked sheared off - dragged off.

I left the garage in a small rage so didn't look too closely.

I also bent the spanner, the long spanner, trying to get the front wheel off. And scratched the chrome wheel nut.

It's not been a great afternoon in the garage!

It's going to BHM at the end of the month for a couple of things, hopefully they can fix. I wasn't sure how they attached to the car.... If I've made the hole bigger, I wonder of that's going to be a problem...

Below the male stud is a hex head, then under that is a wood screw thread that is approx 13mm long.

Suggestion on the wheel nuts: get BHM to loosen them, the tighten them back up yourself using the provided spanner and mallet. That way you know you will be able to get them un-done it you need to.

I found if the stud is sheared off flush you can get a new fastner with 2 screw holes as below

Then it's definitely sheared off....

Below the hex head is about a 2mm stub.... Suggesting 11mm remains in the car.

Er! It's been said before but whenever anyone is struggling with a wheel nut it is worth while mentioning that the direction to undo is marked on the nut. In the tight space of a garage it would be easy to miss it. Left side undoes anticlockwise and the right side undoes clockwise.

Yes, I did make that mistake once..... But not this time.

It's just on very firmly.

Good news is that I managed to grease the suspension with the wheels on.

I've just realised why you couldn't get the wheel nut to budge!!

You used all your strength breaking the Tenax fastener

You can get them out, but it's a slow process. Don't use an electric drill. If that slips you're in trouble. I sheared the drivers side after a few months. I used a pin chuck (modellers hand driven miniature drill worked by finger & thumb), and over a few evenings drilled down the centre with a very fine drill. Eventually I hit sawdust so I know I'd got the full length. Then I used a triangular mini modellers file, "tapped" into the hole. It unscrewed easily from that. What a relief. A braver man than I could use a Dremel much quicker, but as I said, if it slips it will make things a lot worse.
