After a disappointing trip over to the factory yesterday ... but they are nice guys so I forgive them.... MOG Mag was waiting on my doorstep to cheer me up!

There are some months where I just glance through the magazine and it usually sits unread for weeks and then just cleared out...and then an issue like this months appears and I don't put it down! Great article and photos of Charles's Aeromax......rather cleaned up in Photoshop I think! A very tasty and interesting Cosworth engined 4/4 and interesting article about polishing paintwork....and more.

And......a hint at the latest Morgan perhaps......a bicycle, which perhaps explains the rather tasty traditional steel frames bike on a stand in a corridor at the Visitor Centre some time ago! I thought at first it was a debadged Pashly Clubman which would have been nice being made in Stratford upon Avon, but I think it something else but still British!

And.... the soft side of Tim Whitworth and Steve Morris...they both have Cockapoos!!!!

Not yet in my local W H Smith, but will have another look this afternoon.
I love the idea of a Cosworth 4/4. I wonder how I would stand on registration/MoT of my car if I ever did an engine swap?
Well, you can always dream.

As for steel framed bikes, I still have a Pinarello (buit from Columbus SL) in my loft. It was my No 2/Training bike when I raced with the LVRC in the 90s. I keep looking and thinking of re-commissioning?.

Mmmmmm nice bike...well worth re-commissioning. You still got all the lycra too? wink Sadly my decent bikes went years ago...I now rely on a Trek.

The engine in the 4/4...which hails from over the Pond...is a Cosworth BDG bored to 2100cc with twin Weber DCOE 482, giving 240bhp and redlining at 10k!
I've often wondered the situation of replacing a modern efi engine with a much earlier carb engine regarding emissions etc.

You should come up to RaceRetro at Stoneleigh next month where you can ogle such engines to your hearts desire!!

Most of the Lycra went to my son as it was good stuff (Assos), but I have kept some of my jerseys.

Those were the days when I had 7% body fat and a 38 resting heart rate!! My daughter now calls me "Tubs"

Will have a look at Race Retro.

I know a couple of people who have fitted newer engines to 4/4, running on carbs rather than FI and the emissions rules can apply to the newer dated engine, or the older dated chassis - owner's choice. I presume it works the other way around - worth a search??

It seems a long time ago now, but I was in my 40s at the time!
Fit as a butcher's dog!

Also, I know the reason for Jays disappointment, but am sworn to secrecy!!!!!!

A slight misunderstanding between different parts of the factory meant that my car isn't yet ready for collection. So hopefully now in the next couple of weeks. I think there is a lot of focus in getting out the Baby Dolls so my car may have to await its turn. Still....it sits there amongst the Baby Dolls...so perhaps some of their magic will rub off on it!

Bud

+1

Those were the days indeed. Startled more than one nurse on the midnight rounds when I spent a few days in hospital after a minor op. After they had been reassured that that was normal for me they often sat on the bed chatting for a while. Had a marvellous effect on the heart rate.

Can't imagine them doing it now oldgit pale

Sounds irritating to have your car not quite ready.... Will it now be snowed in? smile
