I hope it's true they're crash testing one. I'm in Brisbane and if you were bald and drove a 3 wheeler in the middle of the day you could fry an egg on your head. Early morming or late afternoon runs can't be beat at the moment or the middle of the day in winter when you'll need a singlet under your t-shirt. Some of the 3 wheelers running around here (all non Morgan, though mine looks a bit like one if you squint at it with the garage light off) are registered as cars and some as motorcycles. Hopefully they go down the car compliance path, helmet free motoring, no bike license no worries. Put me on the Oz list for one. It's good to hear the Kiwis (New Zealanders) are getting theirs soon, no doubt lambswool seatcovers will be a popular option.

I expect Scaffa (are they still going?) would do a roaring trade in seat covers.
I still have the one I brought back to UK, even though I no longer have a bike...

Cheers,

Be so as that may, but just getting the M3W down here in Australia and passed for ADR is no keen feat. We have missed out on many classic cars because of them.

I took a photo in the link below back in October 2012 that provided the official status update for the 3 Wheeler here in Oz.

http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/galleries/111872/Morgan_3_Wheeler_Aussie_update#comments

I was told the crash tests were performed at a UK facility against the Australian standards and the 3 wheeler passed, and there are other tests required on shore in Australia that require a vehicle to be built and shipped here. These are not additional crash tests though, I believe they are technical tests.

Keeping the fingers crossed.....apparently around 250 people on the official waiting list for Australian cars.....

Doing a personal import would not work as ADR standards would have to be met regardless before anything could be registered.

Other good news for Oz Morgan enthusiasts is the traditional/classics have apparently been given exemption from the compulsory ESC standards so can continue to be sold in Australia beyond 2013.

I knew that the "interest" list was long, but not that long smile

Great news re the classics...where did you hear that?
