If account balance and health will allow I want to make two journeys in the future. One is with the Seacloud II and on the other journey I would like to be a passenger with the Lufthansa Super Constellation.

Today I saw an impressive film about the restore of a Super Constellation which is still in progress since a couple of years. German Lufthansa bought 3 planes for all in all 750.000 USD in 2006 or so. The best of this three is intended to fly and the two others are spare part deliverers.

It is amazing how a US-German multiple company team is about to restore the aircraft. It is not comparable with a car restore as in this case you need so many man power and so many enthusiasts to make it work.

Here is a Lufthansa link in English about the ongoing progress.

And here we have a very nice made 30 minutes film about the rebuilt. Unfortunately it is in German language only but the pictures are self speaking for those who like what is going on here.

I´m only afraid that the link could be time restricted, but it´s worth to take a look.

Thanks for your post.

That´s very interesting because in the movie they told that only 4 connies are flyable and only 44 were built. BTW all 200 operation hours the engines have to be reconditioned (todays´s jet engines all 20.000 op hours only).
