Did a quick lunch run yesterday from Malvern to Castle Combe, everything was great including the rainy afternoon. On the Motorway, the coupe felt steady and safe, and on the smaller roads it felt lively. Avoiding pot holes here a there was like driving back at home in Thailand. A bit of rain water was coming into the cockpit in places, but overall I'm quite pleased with how the coupe did in the rain. Now she is back at the factory for a little air brush work. Will pick her up again early next week. Need some advise though. I would like to know if any of you have had problems with people opening the engine compartment and messing with the electrical or the engine when the Morgan is parked overnight? (Even in selective hotel parking). Is there a way to lock or protect the bonnet of the car?

I use one of these covers when parked overnight away from home. So far there has been no tampering with the cover.

It must be possible to fit a Bonnet Release Alarm under each of the the bonnets if you do not want to change the Traditional Appearance.

I think the general opinion and the reality is that the Morgan is respected as a modern classic and not touched. The worst problem is people who want to take photos.

It would only be another Morgan owner as simple mortals wouldn't have mastered the black art.

A Rolls Royce parked overnight in a supermarket carpark in Birmingham is likely to be keyed. In Knightsbridge, probably not.

I must say I hadn't considered the access to the engine before reading your post. It's an interesting thought.

Not had a problem so far having driven and parked sensibly across Europe in the Aero.

I agree the storm rain cover is a good addition. I wouldn't lose to much sleep over it.... enjoy .... and cross that bridge if you ever come to it !!

Three and a half years of owning an Aero and I have not come back to find anything other than people taking photos. I also worried about this a little at first but it has never happened. I do not imagine that most people even consider how easy it is to open, unless it is a lady and she may well lose her fingernails !

I have left it overnight in semi-lit hotel car parks, in multi-stories in London during the day and evening. I have left it on street parking in a lot of places and never had an issue.

I am more worried about forgetting to put the clips back on if the battery charger was attached. I have driven off with them unsecured and find they start to lift at about 60 and even then it is only a flap not a smash.

I agree Peter; in my opinion, a Morgan is admired, rather than envied.

I was a bit surprised to read that

We can all accept the odd drop coming into a trad (rag top, side screens and all that) but I would have thought the Aero Coupe would be pretty water tight, though I can imagine a bit of water coming in from the under bonnet area. Morgan don't seem to have completely mastered the art of sealing, and/or protecting, cable ducting through the firewall etc.

Do you know where it was coming in?

I immagine you mentioned to them and that they will look into it while the car is back at the factory.


Actually I don't mind at all but they should ask before lifting a baby over the door to stand on the seat for a photo. Don't you think?

The water came in the most on the passenger side and it was dripping down to the carpet and around the left speaker. Talk to the factory, they said the door hinge will have to be adjusted. But there were drops dripping at a few places from the front windscreen too. It was not that much. To be fair it was raining more than a fair bit on the M5 on the way down and I was cruising at 80, at times went up to 95-ish when passing. That was when the water came in the most. On the way back it did not rain as much and very little water came in through the passenger side and none in the wind screen. I don't know how they would solve the windscreen issue. Perhaps when it gets warmer the rubber seal might expand and fit n seal the glass better.
Thank you all for the advises and I'm sure that its going to be ok too. I was hoping that there might be an after market manual hood lock that does not compromise the look of the car. Cheers.
