Call Angela Burnett at Heacock Classics---one of the major classic insurers. Tel: 1-800-678-5173. I got "agreed value" for full purchase price of car. Also have my 86 Plus 4 insured thru them. Go direct not via your agent who may only have his "target" list. (Read higher commission) No reason to use a middleman.
About 40% less than the quote from Hagerty. Believe Chubb also quote similar, just a little higher.
Good luck.

Here in AZ it is registered as a motorcycle and insured via classic insurance policy as such. Better to get an agreed value policy via one of the classic insurance companies. I use Heacock.
If you intend to do huge mileage per year double check with any insurance company who offer motorcycle insurance. They advertise on TV all the time.

Further to my earlier email.
Classic insurance mandates that it is not your prime driver, casual or non work related driving. Stored in your own secure garage, preferably alarmed which gives you a lower rate. Not intended to go grocery shopping or such.
Make sure that you list the BMW as your daily driver. Trike for pleasure driving only.

Charlie,
I had a similar problem, nobody would even give me a quote. In the end (thanks to 1560) I contacted Morgan Belgium, who were already discussing a package with an insurance broker. I contacted them and got it all sorted. Unlimited mileage, despite the fact I didn't want it!

Thanks for all of the responses.
I called my agent today and she was not in.I called John and he had not yet heard back from Hagerty but was still looking into it as he thought that they had insured another customers.
Tom, thanks for that lead, I will give Angela a call.
Freddy, I believe it was covered as a motorcycle in the Hagerty policy that I chose, but thank you.

My car 3W is insured by Hagarty. I got agreed upon value for the full purchase price. It wasn't cheap (around $900 for a year) but they did it no problem. It can't be your primary vehicle though and they don't like it if you have a teenager in your house that can get to the keys. I never use an insurance agent, just call them directly.

The price for me was $1281 a year which I was fine with (Michigan has outrageous insurance costs because of our amazing no fault law, by far the highest in the country). I have no kids and I have a nice daily driver in perfect working order. If they don't want to insure me, fine; I will take my money some where else. Seems like I am not getting anywhere with this now that it is the weekend, so till Monday it waits. Proof of our high insurance, it was addressed by state government recently: www.wilx.com/home/headlines/188286041.htmlAccording to Insure.com Michigan drivers pay $575 more per year for auto insurance than the national average. They pay $1,124 more than Maine, where car insurance is the lowest in the country.

Interesting, your $1281 a year is more than double the rate here in AZ.

After reviewing the restrictions placed on usage when insured through a Classics firm, I have decided that I will exhaust all of my normal motorcycle insurance leads before I submit to paying such a price for a 3 wheeler that will look nice sitting still in my safe garage.
As always, I will keep you all posted as to what I find.
