Hi all,
Don't know if this is the right forum to post on, but here goes.
My 1970 4/4 had a full respray with celly, in 1988, and in 1991 went into the Morgan factory for a rear end accident repair.
At that time the rear body shell was replaced with aluminium and sprayed by them.
Over the last couple of winters, I have noticed that there are a lot of microblisters appearing in the paintwork, pretty much all over the upper facing parts of the car. Having spoken to local garages, they suggest it's been caused by damp conditions during winter storage.
What is the remedy for this ?
Can I rub down the car and repaint with 2 pack, or , is it a back-to metal job ?
Any advice please.

My car is a 1986 4/4 it was resprayed in 1989 due to the off side front wing being hit . I noticed after a few year it had micro spots along this wing at the edge near the bottom . I put it in a friends for a re-spray in 1994 and they did it in two pack they did not go down to the bare metal. Photo of it in 1995 in the gallery .

And if you want to see the old wing, it's presently lying in my garage!

Dean-Royal: Dont know but could be wrong, but because the blisters are on the ally as well as steel, the blistering isn't going through to metal.
Jack The Lad: I take it that the car paintwork was flatted prior to two pack being put on. Was the whole car done ?
Graham: FYI also into 4x4. Isuzu Trooper 3.1 SWB. Callsign GW6PXW.
Antenna up but shack dismantled due to house redecorating LOL.

The blistering is more likely to be where repaired areas have not been acid etched or isolated and have Filler or Spray filler behind the primer, these substrates are porous, once a micro of moisture is inside these type fillers, its like the BIG C spreads like wild fire.

Dont just key and re-paint you will waist time and money, got to go back to the bare surface.

Graham you are stuck with it like I was it lay in my garage for years also.
The mog was primed then sprayed with two pack yes the full car was re-sprayed.

More likley to be a chemical reaction but what has caused it is open to debate .

Geoff, my 3-wheeler had goose pimples all over it and I was sure that a bare surface respray was pending. Because I had nothing to loose I polished it with an abrasive (T-Cut in UK?). It took a lot of ellbow grease and a cheap polishing machine but at last the pimples were gone and the paint (or some of it) was still there and shines nicely - £££ saved.

Give it a try. If it goes wrong, what have you lost - it was due for a respray anyway.

I had a small patch of filler on the tailgate of my first MGBGT. It blistered in winter with pimples. Eventually I used abrasive compound and it flatted nicely. But guess what? the next summer when it warmed up, what had been pimples became dimples. Micro dimples, which levelled when it was cold. That's how it stayed. It was localise to the filler which must have had water inside it.
