Check the cable run - it must be absolutely clear of any kinks - check all the throttle mechanism - it could just need some light oil - Wd is ok as a short term measure if u have not got any light oil. But do take care as the problem could catch u out with serious results - u hardly need me to say that!!!!!

With the starting issue I have found that the battery must be fully charged - use a trickle charger to make sure. I have also found that by pushing the throttle pedal right down and releasing before turning over helps. Maybe it sets the auto choke?

Hairdryer in the air intake................????????

My Gilbern Invader suffered terrible icing in winter "at speed".
At 70, the heater stopped working, then the power slowly ebbed, once the roadspeed dropped to about 40, the heater came through, and the power returned. On winter days when it was frosty I didn't see more than 12mpg on short trips...............

As mentioned above my car has started (after a good deal of churning) on every occasion, but a couple of times has either idled much too high, or has seemed to have a sticky throttle.

But I don't think this was a sticky throttle - I think it was the fuel injection system getting its knickers twisted. By turning off the engine, removing the key, waiting a few seconds and then re-starting the car using the usual procedures the normal idle speed resumed.

I have had something similar on my Aero 8 once - same procedure fixed it.

Could be completely wrong but these fuel injection systems do have all sorts of 'clever' features that might get confused by a bit of cold or a tiny bit of ice / water.

Just been out for the maiden voyage.

I have to say that I loved it. Totally lived up to expectations - just fantastic.

Started ok. Filled up with petrol, stopped off at a shop , and went for a drive. At minus 2 it was a bit chilly, but really not that bad.

One problem though (and a bit of a big one!) - while driving along at about 80kmh the engine just cut out. Managed to coast a while and my wife cut push us to safety. Oh bugger I thought, but then it started again and we were on our way. Drove the few km home, but then as wife went to open garage door, it cut out again and simply would not start. Pushed into garage and no sign of starting.....

Any thoughts anyone??

Oh, and pics will follow once I can get it back on the road!!

could be similar to the similar issues listed above in this post. May be icing?

Sounds worrying, I would call the dealer.
Did you still have electrics or was everything dead? Maybe a loose battery terminal. Do you have the TOAD immobiliser?

The engine is turning over. Just not firing up. After a short while of trying to start, the engine management light (yellow) comes on (I am conscious of the 6 second rule mentioned the other day).

If only I had a dealer!! (I had to buy direct as the dealer is insolvent).

I have a nearby custom bike shop that also specialises in S&S so that that might be my next stop (hopefully they do home visits!!).

Are you dipping the clutch when turning it over? I noticed in the manual that you are supposed to do this (in my case when it wouldn't fire I was standing outside the car and pressing the button - so maybe this didn't help).
I assume you have removed the ignition key and put it back? I'm a bit unclear as to whether there is some kind of transponder in there or not, but can't hurt.

Thank you very much. How stupid am I!! Of course since we wheeled it into the garage I have been standing next to the car trying to start it. I will blame the fact that I don't yet have an owners manual, and my other car is an automatic (but oh boy do I feel rather silly - even my wife said "I could have told you that" - well she didn't did she!!). Now just need to figure why it might have cut out, but as it is snowing again, this will have to wait.
