Hi fellow Morgan owners,
I have a leak on my 2001 4/4 and am arranging for it to be fixed through the dealer warranty. I'm sending the car to Mike Duncan to assess this weekend but I'm unsure on the choice of rad to have fitted. There seems to be three options - Factory replacement, Mullbury, and another one through Mike Duncan which is a standard type rad with copper core. Can anyone advise what the best option might be. I wasn't aware of problems with the 4/4 rads but I've since been told there are issues with them. Unfortunately my warranty only gives me one shot at this so need to get it right.
Thanks
Phil

You are not alone. I also had a leaking rad in my 2001 4/4. It was replaced by a Mulberry unit.
It took some timevto get it right, but I think avoiding the factory options the most sensible.
The quality if the stock unit was horrible. I could loose 1 litre driving 30km, and that was when the cars tital mileage was close to 4000miles.

If it's a warranty job then I doubt anything other than an original type will be covered.
But the Mulfab unit has so many people loving it and given the costs of fitting are the same, a deal ought to be possible where you get a Mulfab one fitted and pay the difference in cost.
So ask your question of Mike, not the warranty company in the first instance.

It must be a dealer warranty on the sale of a second hand car.
The '99 4/4 radiator had a problem wth the threaded temperature sensor fitting was a press fit that could blow out under pressure. Happened to a friend who was not far from the factory at the time. They fixed it by soldering it in place with silver solder.

A number of the late narrow bodied cars suffered with rad leaks. A friend now retired from the motor trade (research) had problems with his '02 4/4. He traced the main source of the problem to the rad mounting method mixed with chassis flex putting a strain on the rad itself. If you can get a Mulberry ally rad - GO FOR IT!
