I am trying to trace a 4/4 my father-in-law bought new in 1971. It was registered YTU 554K with the chassis number B2515. I have original documents for purchase, the prices make interesting reading, and some photos if the current owner is interested. Does anyone know if this car is still on the road? Any help would be much appreciated.

According to the DVLA its last tax disc ran out in July 2011 so it's not currently legal on UK roads: The vehicle details for YTU 554K are:
Date of Liability 01 07 2011 Date of First Registration 01 08 1971 Year of Manufacture 1971 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1600cc CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type PETROL Export Marker Y Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour RED Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
I'm guessing that "Export Marker: Y" means that it has gone abroad. ~iw

According to Yahoo! Answers: Export Marker 'N' means they have not received notification that the vehicle has been permanently exported.
If it would have said 'Y' then i presume that they have had notification that the vehicle has been permanently Exported.
