I received a catalogue today with the above listed for 9 inch drums and wondered if anyone had fitted them. They seem to be a good price at £240 per pair.

Front brakes have EBC grooved and dimple discs ( 50% lighter than vented ) . Billet aluminium four pots with stainless steel pistons . Green pads + servo ( had to alter the chassis to fit it ) Aeroquip flexible braided stainless steel hosing to callipers inc Cunifer brake piping , polished stainless steel unions . Dot 5 silicone brake fluid.
Rear callipers have stainless steel sleeves and pistons . I looked for the bill, the drums are alloy and finned ( sprayed black ) . All this has improved my brakes about 40%.

Its not a fast car but its quick and light . I hate motorways love twisty country roads where it is at its best , I cut top end speed for torque on a 0 to 70mph .

A few years ago I was comming over from the lakes my wife following and a BMW 3 was sitting on my rear bumper , then off side door then front bumper . Tauting me I did not bite I could wait . He returned to my rear bumper and I turned off the A66 at Bowes towards Barnard Castle ( I know the road well ) It was my turn now . I floored it through the box and it took the corners like it was on tracks after a good few mile I pulled onto a grass side as he went past I waved at him with a big grin on my face . He had a face like thunder . My wife arrived , " I knew you would do that " and I got a thick ear well it matches my thick head , but she could not wipe the grin from my face.

Better than a mate with a +8 he was telling me while in Germany on the Auto a BMW was giving him hell so he turned off and went . He looked through his mirror to see it rolling over several times in a field . He refused to stop I find that hard .

I have done the same as you to the front brakes (no servo), how much has the rear callipers with stainless steel sleeves and pistons, finned drums and improved it?

It just returned before christmas from Heart of England down there for a long while . I asked Ben to do the rear brakes while it was down , but thats not what I sent it for . With Morgans you send it away with a list , you then think oh what the hell I will have this and that done and get a large bill.
Everything was so before it went just the rear callipers done and before it went 40% better so its one month today before I scream hurray and zoom off into the blue yonder then tell you how the rear are working . I dont think it will make a jot I did it because I want to be safe and no sticky piston . If I hit the brakes hard the nose goes down they are so sharp I could get bald spots very easy so I try to feather them as I drive. You can look it over when we meet up and have a ride in it if you want . Ben had to bleed the brakes a few times to get every bit of air out tells me they are 100% now . Every time I phoned, Ben or his dad had taken it out to test it , I dont know what it is about my car but they both love it Mike cant keep out of it , when I laughed and said you are in it more than me he replied " someone has to test it " . I think he just loves older 4/4s with a bit of power it brings back his youth.

I brought my Morgan from Mike and Ben. It was them that upgraded the front brakes etc. A great pair of lads.

What have you done to the suspension?

I should have asked Tony Howard to upgrade the power of my CVH over this winter, but was not sure of the ideal route. Tony is against putting a Zetec etc in an old car, and to have it bored out to 1900 I understand it is best use a US Pinto engine.

Steve give me your e-mail and I will send you a slip I put behind the mog screen when parked it has all the details and stops people asking all about it to me when I stop , most of the time I am in a hurry and dont have time to stand chatting even if I wanted to .
Mine is a 1905cc on the Stokesly to Hemsley road ( its a twisty road with the lot for about 15 mile ) . This road has a steep bank the way the mog is set up I can do it in 5th If I get a run at it , if not 4th . I can pull away from 30mph in 5th easy dont have to drop a gear. The secret was I chatted to the late Bill Blydstien ! what a nice chap so full of knowledge and willing to help anyone . Everyone says oh thats wrong but this chap knew better the proof is in the mog . He once raced mogs so had a soft spot for them. If you nip along and see Ben I am sure he will tell you about my car .

FRONT SUSPENSION ,
Sliding pillar with Koni shock absorbers set to maximum , up rated springs , hardened King Pins and Negative camber plates .

REAR SUSPENSION, Koni shock absorbers on a chassis to chassis tube

ELECTRICS, Reduction gear starting motor ( due to compression ) . Magnercor 8.5 silicone leads . More powerful battery . Extra earth leads .

Wouldn't go for finned drums for efficiency unless you want to polish them for appearance- they look nice but you won't get the drums hot enough for the fins to make a difference unless you are on a trackday or racing.
I wouldn't use a Pinto - they were used by some engineers for analysing wear as they quickly deteriorate. Use a Zetec or a crossflow if you want something historic. CVH is a dead end.

Uprated brakes at front worthwhile.
