Hi Dave, I hope you are enjoying TM as much as I am. I don't know how this site could have eluded me for so long! I'm guessing your Basil is the same maroon Matchless super sport that sat in the Sterne showroom in the early 70's? I have to admit that I ogled that little beast with longing during my dealership visits which began several months before I acquired B1800. I did however, have very serious intentions of buying the black and white Plus 8 which first attracted me to Sternes and simultaneously graced the showroom at the time. When B1800 popped-up unexpectedly all thoughts of Plus 8 ownership were dashed. I never regretted my decision even though I was, and still am addicted to V8 sounds and torque. Enough rambling from me, do post more of your competition photos when you find the time. I did witness your exploits at Westwood on several occasions, the Morgan contingent including GB & Bob Sterne were sure to provide a good showing at every meet.
P.S. According to Sterne records B1800 (indigo/black leather) was delivered Mar.or April 1969. Do you have any recollection at all surrounding details of first owner? I often wonder who originally ordered/purchased the car then decided to divest themselves of it after approx. 18 months of ownership. Take care,
B&B

Hi Bert.
I'll do some digging and see if I can come up with any info.
Cheers, Dave.
