I have a 2006 Roadster that has the Simmonds hood which attaches to the rear by two spring encased pins that are held by latches that are beneath two holes on the rear body.
.
the latches on my car are worn and need replacing as they no longer hold the rear of the hood down properly.
I have emailed Simmonds, through their web email address, and have so far not received a response.
maybe I can also repair these if anyone has had a similar experience. also as to how easy/difficult they might be to replace.
any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Peter, from the description, that does not sound like a Simmods hood but a standard Easy up.
There are a couple of threads somewhere on your problem.

Peter, I had the same problem on my +8. Found that by adjusting
the pins and pulling in the cable it solved the problem.

As has been pointed out it sounds like you have the standard easy up hood. I had a 2006 Roadster and it also gave me problems, the attachments are car bonnet releases, I know this because DaveW has repaired his in a past post on this site. Hopefully he will reply with his solution

Simmonds are a bit notorious at not replying to e-mails. They lost my business when looking for a hood as I got fed up trying to contact them. A shame as Steve is a great guy.

As far as I know, all Simmonds hoods are retained at the rear with internal over centre catches. If your hood has a folding front frame that goes to the windscreen it will be the factory easy up hood.

thanks for the input, Simmonds did get back to me and as mentioned they confirmed it is a factory hood. I have now written to the French distributor where I purchased the car and will see if he can supply the parts as I am not sure I will be able to repair the locking plates as per the picture they are deformed, and the pins that fit in pop out when driving over a bumpy road. The release cable has an adjusting barrel (like a stay adjuster on a boat) reached from above the fuel tank after removing the spare wheel. Have you tried adjusting that?

what has worked, and one of those "should have thought of that" suggestions, is to simply tighten the screw type pins a few turns which puts the hood tightly again against the back so it will not bounce loose.

Does anyone know who makes the female 'cone' parts that fit in the bodywork? Sadly on my 2003 Plus 8 the left side looks to have split, even though it is metal. Also when you pull the cable there is no metal 'tongue' visible on the left side moving side to side, which there is on the right. I have a feeling this is going to be expensive, but necessary as the front left side of the roof flew up today on the freeway which was quite entertaining.

I'd suggest a call to Simmonds....
