Autocar is this morning reporting that Charles Morgan has been replaced as managing director of his own company by former operations director Steve Morris. The decision was apparently made by board members and shareholders, though Morgan insists that the change was amicable and not driven by a lack of satisfaction with Charles Morgan’s performance. A statement from the company says that “Charles Morgan will concentrate on his vital role as the face of Morgan internationally, promoting the brand and selling the company’s products worldwide.” However, when we asked the company for a comment, a spokesperson told us that there’d be no change of role for Morgan, and that Morris had “simply become the MD”.

Indeed old news!
I do suspect we will never know the exact circumstances but what I do know is that Charles will sell their product very well globally.
Charles Morgan is the Steve Jobs of MMC, a very modern man that surrounds himself with young fashionable people including his young wife and children.
I have it on good authority that he would clean a car if need be and he cooks for the family when he gets home! How many men of his generation do that!?
Kind regards Chris

Morgan hasn't stepped down and isn't going anywhere. I haven't looked on the share register, but I expect his name features prominently in his family's business and will continue to do so. He's a good ambassador for the brand, slightly quirky and eccentric - not unlike the cars. The newly promoted MD sounds a quality animal and in the position by merit.

If you look at the accounts of the holding company Morgan Technologies Ltd, they suggest that the company may be producing cars nearer to their markets and that they see growth in India, China and South America.
That may be his next project.

Charles Morgan is simply concentrating on what he does best (and already does) whereas Steve Morriss will also be doing what he has been doing for many years (running the factory) - no change at all, simply a recognition of roles. Autocar is trying to be dramatic - poor journalism from a poor magazine.
