Sat a/noon was not to bad so I jacked up the car ( rear near side ) and got stuck in cleaned and polished under the wheel arch brake hub nuts bolts exhaust etc . Then removed the earth strap for the battery and swung the jack to the front. Axel stands under , off comes the new'ish s/motor and on goes the spare polish the chassis , sump and track rods etc . Return to rear w/wheel off and it's the twisty finger treatment as I polish the wires , remove the grease and replace with new . Tyre treated and polished to look like new but not shine . Spotted my exhaust pipe is touching the tyre must give it a good twist and sort it out . The side lights have been playing up so I thought, and getting a rubber gasket to fit was a no no . Ordered two, to thick tried to sand one down and cocked it up . Tried a self tapper and cracked the plastic lens . Now I had two new lens and washers , straight in off side lit up but not the nearside , must find the earth . Car lowered stuff put away s/motor covered in finger marks that refuse to come off . Just contacted a firm today and they will strip it down send the case to me and keep the other part's . Once I have had the case polished return it and they will fit it all back together check it over and post it out . Cant ask for better than that can I. Just working my socks off to get back on the roads for April.

'Twisty Finger Treatment'!

I now know the true meaning of this. smile

Are you an exponent of the disposable rubber gloves? I tend to use these when tinkering, very cheap - probably cheaper than soap.

Cripes, you lot are anal!!! ooo the car was made for driving, not preening it to within an inch of its life -- get real and put the hood down and get out there -- you might actually enjoy it!!!!

I do like the car reasonably clean, but this is crazy grin2 hide

For many, me included, having a pristine car is part of the pleasure.

I do drive them, but there's zero pleasure in driving in the pouring rain, so I use these miserable days to look after the cars in my garage.... All part of the fun and not crazy at all. smile

Don''t get me wrong - I respect anyone's enjoyment from a Mog whatever it is -- just for me, cleaning up underneath the wings takes it a bit far.

However, if that's what floats your boat -- carry on the enjoyment!!!!!!

It floats my boat and I can flog its bits off also, hood up no thanks got my tankies and this is the frozen North not lush green Ireland . Had the car over 25 year so done all that newbie stuff years ago yet they still preach thinking they have just thought of it . It reminds me of a teenager talking about sex. somestick crazy3

I just took the old bedsheet off that covered it. opened the bonnet to see the SU's. squirted some start fluid into them. punched the start button (handy placement...)pulled up the choke cable, it coughed a bit but with a second application of squirt it rose to life on it's way toward it's 50th year. Now I need to do that to me!!My squirt fluid of choice-Makers Mark w/a lemon twist or Templeton Rye, if you can find it.

This is the essence of TM to me JTL putting enormous effort in to his absolutely pristine car - the photographs are truly stunning and better than new car condition. Good work.
Then the Robbie and I and a few others the year rounder/all weather topless types.
The common feature being each member enthusiastically enjoying their own "journey" with the Morgan in their own way.
Progressing the useage argument a little further I have to confess were I to enter a Trial I couldn't bring myself to use the Sport somehow.
