Hello all, I'm on the cusp of placing an order for a Morgan 3 Wheeler. Does anyone, have an opinion on which dealer is best in the USA?

I will need the car delivered to Houston Texas, and am thinking of using Brighton in Scottsdale, AZ, and they are closest to me.

Any opinions out there?

Does the car need to be delivered to the dealership first? Or can the factory ship it directly to me in Houston.

Welcome to Talk Morgan! I am unsure as to which dealer is the "best" per-say, I personally went with the closest but a couple hours drive vs a couple states away is a much bigger incentive. I figure since the closest place is where any warranty work would need to be done, might as well get off on a good start at that dealership by giving them the sale; it may benefit you down the road. I know Morgan West has seen over 50 of the 3 wheelers that are now stateside, so they probably win by volume of vehicles moved.

As far as shipping, you should be able to have it dropped off in your driveway if that is what you want. I shipped mine with the 2 guys who were next in line for build order through my local dealership. We split a container 3 ways and they traveled slowly by sea; taking about a month total - I do not have a final cost of shipping as I do not have an itemized bill of sale, but it was rolled into the final price of the 3 wheeler.

Another TM member had his shipped via air, taking less than a day but I believe the cost was far more than the standard route that I took. Hope this helps!

Flying to Scottsdale next month for a test drive, and if things go well I will probably order then.

Over the phone, the dealer told me the car needs to be shipped to the dealer first - then ground shipped to Texas...sounds like you were able to have your car shipped directly from the factory. I'll need to check on this with Brighton when I visit.

Hi Crowbar and welcome to TM.

I think you're best having it delivered to the dealers, that was they can check it over and make sure they are happy before you driving it away.

Within our business we've tended to buy vehicles locally not always the cheapest but as Charlie said you can get a relationship going right from the off.

It should be a fun trip, there is nothing quite like driving one. You can always place your order over the phone and just bring the deposit with you to get your build week slotted now. From personal experience, if you think that you are going to like it - you wont, you'll love it.

After it is built, it will be shipped by a Morgan contracted shipping firm to a storage facility where it awaits payment then pick up from the shipping place that your dealership uses. Once it arrives stateside, the dealership will need to remove any packing material and detail the car, then they check belt alignment and front geometry - takes roughly 2 days. Then on to Texas.

Having only been to one, take my advice for what it's worth...but I live in Florida and should I ever be able to order my M3W, I would order through Morgan West out in Los Angeles. I was able to go visit in October(and spent a considerable amount of time there) and it solidified my love of all things Mog.
Dennis is a Morgan man. Down to earth, bathed in the blood, etc. He is just such a valuable resource, I can't imagine not going with someone like him.

To each his own. I'm sure the convenience of the Scottsdale dealership will win you over, but you asked for our opinions!

Now, where do I sign up to come take a drive with you once it's in Houston? I'm in Houston once a month on my way to visit my girlfriend who's in school at A&M. Would love to come by sometime and talk shop.

Puts my earlier moan about not having a dealer in Yorkshire into perspective.

The nearest US dealer is the obvious choice, but Pete Larson in Seattle at Liberty Sidecar is the creator of the modern M3 . Seems if you could buy a Ford from Henry or a Ferrari from Enzo, you would.
I'm sure all the dealers are qualified, and all are at a bit of a distance, so I chose Liberty, and have no regrets.

My 2 cents

I think thats my only qualm with Morgan is that they claim to have come up with the design for the new M3W instead of Pete Larson. Never once in any of their press or on their site do they give any amount of credit to Pete. Shame really...
