Hello,
in 10 days I’m traveling with my family for the first time for a holiday week to england. We will stay in Margate and we want to visit the south eastern part of england. Perhaps we will make a oneday trip to London too. I have the idea, to drive by car to a p&r parking place south east of london an to continue the trip per tube.
I hope, that someone here in the forum can give me a suggestion, where i can find a good p&r in that region. With the help of google i found only p&r in the north and the west of London. I’ m also interesseted in getting insider sightseeing tips in that region.
Thank you for response.
Mike

Mike, I honestly wouldn't bother with a park & ride as there really is no need, from Margate you can drive to the Royal borough of Greenwich in just 1 hour and park for free! You can take the train to London Bridge Station in just 13 minutes.

If your planning on bringing your Morgan then you are more than welcome to park in my secure car park.

Hi Mike

There are quite a few folk here based in the south east and many who can give you dozens of tips of what to see in the south and London. PM me anytime for suggestions.

Rather than take the Morgan into London, you could catch the train from Margate (1 hour 50 mins) or drive to Ashford International and train from there (38 minutes). Ashford International will take you into St Pancras and the car park is safe for a Morgan - a bit like an airport car park.

Thank you for your tips. I travel with my wife and my daughter, therefore my morgan has to rest at home and I have to take our family car. The tip to drive to Royal borough of Greenwich sounds very interesting. There we can also visit the nice park.

If your in Grenwich don't forget the meridian and maritime museum. From the Meriden and museum (in the park) you get a great view of the city. You can also walk the foot tunnel under the Thames, see the markets (which are great) and the old vessel the Cutty Sark. A day in itself smile

From Grenwich you can take a train, tube or better still ferry to London.

Mike,

What sort of things interest you and your family?

Greenwich would be a good starting point using the ferry into the centre of London to Parliament, the London Eye and west end, you could then use both the tube, docklands light railway to get back to your car.

The British Museum has an exhibition on of Pompei but you need to pre book.

The Tower & Tower bridge are always good as is the Museum of London.

In Greenwhich there is also the Cutty Sark and you can use Brunel's tunnel to walk under the Thames.

Afternoon tea at the top of the National portrait Gallery: must book and a great view. Tickets for War Horse or The Lion King. My son and I had our breath taken away and he's fourteen so that is not something easily done.
