I think sales must be a bit slow. The discounts on the demo's are huge at the moment. The one I looked at has a £35k new spec and is just under £26k including 5 years service plan, and with 5k miles.
The BMW 1 series in the five door spec I just don't like the look of. The coupe and convertible are decent enough, but I would go for a Golf over a five door 1 Series. I saw a new Golf in a car park this afternoon, and I'm still not sure about the shape. A bit too wide and low maybe.
There really are no other options for me. I engage with my car so it has to speak to me if you can understand that. I have to look at it and want it. That's what happened with the Morgan, and that's what happened with my Golf. Any doubts and I walk away. That will be tough on Monday if these new 320's are as good as journalists say they are.

Most manufacturers target their dealers on a quarterly basis, so they are aiming at a 1st Quarter target that ends on the 31st March. So the dealer may well have self registered a few cars to achieve that target and the associated bonuses.
These self registrations will be heavily discounted to sell as otherwise they have a negative effect on cash flow.

Also most manufacturers will require each dealer to register a fresh set of "13 Plate" Demonstrators, so again dealers will be selling their "62 Plate" demonstrators, again with a heavy discount.

Well worth consideration

Hmm, that makes sense. I'm almost on the hook, but will be away in a few days until 14th April, so if I commit before we go away, I'll be wetting myself the whole time. I'm trying to fix up a GTD view tomorrow. I can only do so much at once so the Lotus obsession is on the back seat until this is sorted.

The way the volume bonus works is to your favour, you do not need to jump now. They will choose to register a number of additional cars to hit a break point for the quarter which can be significant as it is not just those cars.

You want to leave it past the end of quarter as this is when the spare stock is sitting on the forecourt. Don't panic and also look into the larger chains of car dealers. They will have stock across the branches.

The real question is which one offers more opportunity for the application of Neoprene, the substance of gods.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Whilst BMW are cracking cars -- I jumped ship to VW a few years ago to escape the woes of "run flat tyres" - (originally thought a good idea for the lady family members )

Breaking news.......
DaveW caves in to VW lust. I couldn't test the BM without first testing a GTD. So this morning I wended my way to JCT600 in Wakefield, who had the GTD of my dreams (in red). It was love at first sight. I wanted it so bad. BMW's don't have that effect on me for some reason. A test drive followed which fuelled my desire, so I have done the deal. After some thought I decided not to waste the time of the BMW dealer, so I cancelled Monday.

So I'll be wetting myself for a couple of weeks.

Thanks to all for your input. It was very helpful.

Yes, Neil, you could be right. If all of these local London Commuters were driving Morgans I could be castigating them for owning that car marque instead. hide
