Hi. My car is from 2007, 4/4, 1800 Ford Duratec. Some days ago I drained the cooling system and then I filled it up with new cooling fluid. Afterward I can see, when the engine is run hot and I have stopped the car, the radiator flows over. And I can feel the radiator bottom is cold. Even when fan has started. So I stopped the engine. removede the radiatorcap and started again. When I do it like that I can see air "boobeling" out of the radiator top. It seems that it is air standing inside the cooling system and blocking for circulation. Does´s anyone if it is any bleeding screw anywhere. Or any other good advise. Regards in forehand from Norway

As nobody with direct experience has answered your request. It does seem as though the coolant is not circulating (pump running partly in air?) since the radiator bottom is cold, yet the water where the fan temporature sensor is 'sees' high coolant temperature and thus switches on the fan. This is what I would do: 1. Run the engine with no radiator filler cap in place until it gets warm. Look carefully into the filler and you might see the coolant level drop as air is expelled. If so top up slowly. IF no success. 2. I have heard that doing the same as in 1. but with the front of the car higher than the rear will help. On blocks, or axle stands. ALSO in desparation. 3. There is a top hose return to the radiator. Engine off, no pressure in system, rad cap on. Loosen and slide away the highest hose clamp to loosen the hose from the fore/aft tube. Ease a small screw driver or similar into the loosened hose junction then squeeze by hand one of the rubber hoses and let air out by 'pumping' the hose you are squeezing until coolant comes out. Replace hose clamp. I hope this helps, but it is not directly applicable to the Duratec as I run a Zetec. Regards PJB.

If your radiator is cold at the bottom there is just a chance its blocked at the bottom where any sludge can gather. Ive had the same problem myself this weekend on my CBR 1000 FL. I initially tried flush the the system with Wynns flushing fluid but that didn't work. So I started by undoing hoses and with the gundge that came out I began systematically cleaning each rubber hose ...pressure washing the engine waterways ....taking off and cleaning the water pump. And as we speak the radiator is off and having been steamed with the old wall paper steamer has started to give up the gundge which lay at the bottom. Once the rad matrix has been completely cleaned and you have a good flow re fit to the car fill with new coolant and run her again. If the rad is still cold at the bottom it's probable the matrix has had it in which case its time to get the wallet out. Good luck
