I added a bit of mechanics wire tie to one clip as a safety feature as the front shake has popped mine before.

Thanks for the help. I decided to go with the stone guards from CA. Expensive but unique. Edgar is right, they only work on flat lenses! Just happens I had a set. Here is a photo of how it turned out.

I used the standard stuff but with stainless guards. Small plastic zip ties secure them th the spring clips which are drilled / fitted to the headlamp rims. No problems whatsoever with retention coffee
