After a few hairy moments going over the Black Mountain  in the Wales tour I think I should change my tyres. Can anybody recommend a good tyre. It has Continental on at the moment, don't think I want the same again ! size is 205/55 16 91V

I have Yokohamas on the Plus8. Fairly "sticky" in the dry but , like any Plus8 the wet is a different matter when "pressing on"!  Glad you enjoyed the Black Mountain road too! If I am travelling close to it them I often detour onto it. How much traffic was on there? Usually busy on a dry Sunday.

I too run Yokohamas on the plus 8. They are around 6 years old now and I suspect they have gone hard cos things can get a bit hairy. Loads of tread on them and spare unused!
This is common to sticky semi track day tyres although they are fine in 'normal' use. You need to get them warm hence less grip in this cold damp weather.
I would have thought Contis were one of the best but perhaps you have the same ageing problem?
Sorry can't recommend anything, Vredestein seem good on 4/4's and
Toyo's on Aeros. Remember Art you were trying to keep up with smaller engined Aeros over the weekend!!!

I have Bridgestone Turanza ER300 on my +8 which I find pretty good, but suspect theres better out there. The best wet handling tyres I have experience were Dunlop Sp Sport on a 944 Turbo, but they may have changed since then. Goodyear do EfficientGrip model that is A rated for wet and although I have not tried myself other Goodyear tyres I had on other cars have been good. Be very interested in what tyres other +8 owners are using.

Plus 4 has plenty of grip when I am allowed to give it a bit of welly (out on my own) so quite happy with them.

with horizontal rain, wind and mist nobody apart from a couple of modern tin tops. I had to back off at the top to let them pass visibility about 10% !!! and no grip.
