Jays, I as you know have the Simmonds mounts. They are screwed directly to the leather. I didn't cut through the rubber. They don't move at speed. The car is a 97 +4.
Mr prior car a 94 4/4 had standard mounts done similarly and t they also didn't move.

UPDATE.......
I reported on this site back in 20/07/11 of a stress cracked windscreen on my barely year old 4/4 Sport. After much debate, anger, frustration and time spent in regard to the issue, I decided early this year to pursue my complaint against MMC after discovering an interesting point in the EU regulations (regulations that we all sometimes complaint about). The regulation in question is number 861/2007, European Small Claims Procedure. Basically, this regulation provides for the filing of a small claims action (under 2,000 euro) across EU borders without having to appear in person. (I would assume there is a small claims court in the U.K. that could be used by citizens)
I had received two responses from MMC and they refused to do anything about the problem and claimed that the factory warrantee did not cover glass even though it was a stress crack. After that there was a complete stone walling and no response to my further inquiries. I submitted a report from a French auto expert (court approved) stating the crack appeared to be caused by stress in the body structure and not any foreign object and suggested a representative of Morgan discuss the issue with him. There was no response from MMC.
I put together a case referencing the number of reported cases of cracked windscreens on this forum, along with report from the French automotive expert and included photos of newer 4/4 Sports with revised windscreen pillars. Also, I included a screen shot from MMC web site 'car creator' page showing new 4/4 basic models with revised pillars.
After filing the action against MMC (at a costs of 80 euros) and approximately five days before they were required to submit their side of the case, which would be decided by an arbitrator of the court; I received an letter from the solicitor who represented MMC stating that they would like to settle the matter before going before the court. I am not allowed to discuss the settlement as one of the terms of the agreement, but can say an agreement was reached.
My only further comment is, if one feels they have a valid complaint, I feel it should be acted upon.
Regards to all and thanks to the forum for its help.

Very good Doug! This might explain CM's response to J when he mentioned cracked windscreen at the beginning of our factory tour the other week... Nice collection of cars BTW!

Douglas
I am glad that you have finally been able to come to a resolution for your case. However and IMHO, what a shame that MMC didn't sort this problem for you, without the need for you to have to revert to the courts.

Well done Douglas. As a legal man I totally agree with your stance and actions. It's very disturbing that Morgan failed to honour these claims and breached their own warranty. I am surprised as I believe them to be a wholly honourable company - I don't know what went wrong here. A disturbing precedent and omen for the future.

Probably explains why he gave me a wide berth at the start of the Nordkapp Run at the factory the other week! Sadly my car is out of warranty and as Allon White replaced the windscreen surround when fitting my new hood over a year ago now, the factory would very likely not entertain any claim from me. I will write to Steve Morris though regarding the screen problems on my return as I think at the least the factory should have feedback on problems. Writing to CM is a waste of time...he really is only a figurehead for the company now that Steve has taken over.

Well done Douglas. As someone who has insurance but dislikes claiming for anything, the price of a relacement screen, should it crack, would mean a definite claim. I hope that MMC, plays ball in the future and clarifies the cause of these cracks, so we at least understand and if posible take actions to prevent it occurring. As we will all end up paying with increased insurance premiums.
